Abstract

The aim of this research was to investigate: (i) the confidence of children of prostitute (COP) at Kompleks Butung such as: prefer being alone, full of doubt, uncompetitive, unsupportive, very sensitive, attention seeker, and afraid of making mistakes. (ii) The causing factors of the COP’s lack of confidence at Kompleks Butung are; (a) Internal Factors such as self-concept, physical condition, and life experience. (b) External Factors such as education, and environment. (iii) The impacts of confidence problem of the COP on ID and IR; (a) Academic Impact such as low grades, (b) Social Impact such as self-withdraw, (c) Personal Impact such as hatred to parents, anxiety, loneliness, depression, and even intention to commit suicide, and (iv) School counselors have done some efforts to solve the problems through: project work, environment acknowledgment, and classical guideline services.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to measure the self-leading ability of the future Guidance and Counselling teachers at Sanata Dharma University (USD) Yogyakarta and examine whose self-leadership ability is better, the male-students or the female-students. The subjects of this study were 210 students of study program of Guidance and Counselling USD 2020/2021. The data collection instrument was the Student Self Leadership Ability Scale with a semantic differential model. The data analysis technique applied two methods, namely descriptive category and different test technique t test. The results showed that most of the subjects had achieved a score of self-leadership ability in the high category, but there was no significant difference in the ability of self-leadership in the male-students and the female-students.

Abstract

This study is aimed to (1) describe the effect of gadget use on emotional intelligence, (2) describe the effect of gadget use on social behavior, (3) describe the effect of gadget use on students' religious behavior. Quantitative approach was used in this research. The research subjects were collected using the cluster proportional random sampling technique. Data of this study were collected by using techniques using questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed with a simple linear regression test. This study showed that (1) there is a significant effect of gadget use on emotional intelligence, (2) there is a significant effect of gadget use on social behavior, (3) there is a significant effect of gadget use on students' religious behavior.

Abstract

This study attempts to encourage character building of students with special needs, especially the character of independence. Being independent serves as one of primary education goals for children with autism to reduce dependence towards others and to raise sense of responsibility in their daily lives. Qualitative method is applied in this study in which the researcher investigates natural objects and plays a role as the key instrument. Data collection technique was done through triangulation, data analysis was performed inductively, and research findings highlighted more on the meaning instead of generalizatibility.  The data collection technique is tentative in nature. During the research process, research questions were solved through collecting and analyzing information gathered from related participants. The interview technique is generally distinguished into 2 namely 1) structured interview and 2) unstructured interview. The finding of this research reveals that the character of being independent in children with special needs can be promoted by habituation to involve children in daily activities as well as during online learning.

Abstract

This research is a case study with qualitative method aiming to determine (i) hedonistic behavior of student at Senior High School 6 of Palopo, (ii) factors behind the hedonistic behavior of student at Senior High School 6 of Palopo, and (iii) efforts used to overcome hedonistic behavior of student at Senior High School 6 of Palopo. Subject of this research is a twelfthgrade student who is identified as having hedonistic behavior. Interview and observation guidelines were used as instruments of data collection. The data were then analyzed using descriptive analysis with triangulation technique. This study discovered that (i) the subject's description of hedonistic behavior is due to her interests (in branded goods and to be the center of attention), activities (spending a lot of time outside, buying things that are not needed, and visiting shopping centers and cafes), and also opinions (views of life), (ii) hedonistic behavior of the subject was caused by internal and external factors in which the internal factors came from the subject itself such as the desire to be recognized, while the external one was parents’ attention, social environment’s influence, and peers influence, (iii) the effort conducted to overcome the hedonistic behavior was individual counseling with logotherapy technique.

Abstract

This study aims to determine (i) the needs for personal guidance media using the challenge card game to improve self-acceptance of the SMAIT Nurul Fikri Makassar students; (2) the prototype of personal guidance media using the challenge card game to improve self-acceptance of the SMAIT Nurul Fikri Makassar students; and (3) the acceptability of the personal guidance media using the challenge card game to improve self-acceptance of the SMAIT Nurul Fikri Makassar students. This study adopted a research model from Borg & Gall and used interviews and questionnaires for data collection. The results showed that (1) the needs for personal guidance media using the challenge card game to improve self-acceptance of the SMAIT Nurul Fikri Makassar students were high; (2) the prototype of personal guidance media using the challenge card game included challenge cards, worksheets, a guidebook, and self-acceptance reading texts; and (3) the validity and acceptability of the product received moderate-to-high responses from the subject matter expert, the media expert and the guidance and counseling practitioner, while the acceptability of the small group trial of 8 students in grade 12 at SMAIT Nurul Fikri Makassar showed a very high response.

Abstract

This research is aimed to find out (1) the description of media analysis. (2) the prototype of pubertal guidance application media. (3) the validity and practicality of the guidance application media for mild intellectual disabled students, made in the form of an application designed to display several lessons. This research method is a research and development (R&D), stage of research by Borg & Gall. Researchers applied interview data collection, questionnaires, and validation test instruments. The results showed that (1) an overview of the media needs for pubertal guidance applications was required for teachers and students with mild intellectual disability for puberty guidance (2) a prototype of pubertal guidance application media was developed in the form of an android application contained material contents, videos, and evaluations (3) based on a test, the validity and the practicality of the pubertal guidance application was valid and practical, applicable on the pubertal guidance class for mild intellectual disability students.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between authoritarian parenting style, emotional intelligence, and cyber aggression in undergraduate students in a private university in Central Java. There were three hypotheses tested in the study, including 1) the major hypothesis: there is a relationship between authoritarian parenting style, emotional intelligence and cyber aggression; 2) the first minor hypothesis: there is a positive relationship between authoritarian parenting style and cyber aggression; and 3) the second minor hypothesis: there is a negative relationship between authoritarian parenting style and cyber aggression.  This was a quantitative correlational study conducted on 105 research subjects. The data were collected using the authoritarian parenting style scale, the emotional intelligence scale and the cyber aggression scale. The results of hypothesis testing showed that there is a relationship between authoritarian parenting style, emotional intelligence and cyber aggression (R=0.476; p<0.01).  The results of the first minor hypothesis testing found a positive relationship between authoritarian parenting style and cyber aggression (rxy=0.386; p<0.05). The results of the second minor hypothesis testing found a negative relationship between emotional intelligence and cyber aggression (rxy=-0.402; p<0.05). The statistical test results showed that the three hypotheses were accepted. This study is hoped to encourage university administrators to consider the procurement of a program aiming to reduce students’ cyber-aggression behavior.

Abstract

Abstract: This article describes how the value of the Mappalette Bola on the behavior of the Turikale youth, the existence of the Mappalette Bola values on the character of the Turikale youth nationalism, and how the Mappalette Bola values on the character of the Turikale youth nationalism are. The study aims to find out how the existence of nationalism is embodied in the tradition of the Mappalette Bola in the Turikale youth. The study is nonemployee research designed with a nondescriptive research method qualitative with the library research. Data collection techniques using library studies. Data analysis involves a number of stages of reading, comparing, classifying primary and secondary data, linking, criticizing the literature, and then creating a review. Based on these data analysis, it comes to the results that (1) The values contained in the Mappalette Bola tradition are sipatokkong which includes sipakatau, sipakakebbi, and sipakalebbi as well as religious values, (2) the existence of the mappalette ball values is still closely held by the Turikale people, especially the young turikale, And (3) the implications of the mappalette ball tradition values have been made by students in one of maros county high schools who graduate by collecting garbage.Keywords: Nasionalism; Mappalette Bola; Turikale Youth                                                                                                    Abstrak: Artikel ini menggambarkan bagaimana nilai-nilai tradisi Mappalette Bola pada perilaku Pemuda Turikale, eksistensi nilai-nilai tradisi Mappalette Bola pada karakter nasionalisme Pemuda Turikale, serta bagaimana implikasi nilai-nilai tradisi Mappalette Bola pada karakter nasionalisme Pemuda Turikale. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana eksistensi karakter nasionalisme yang terkandung dalam tradisi Mappalette Bola pada pemuda Turikale. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian non empirik yang didesain dengan metode penelitian descriptive kualitative dengan library research (non-systematic review). Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan studi pustaka. Analisis data dilakukan dengan beberapa tahap yaitu membaca, membandingkan, mengelompokkan data primer dan sekunder, menghubungkan, mengkritisi literatur, lalu membuat narrative review. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data tersebut, maka diperoleh hasil bahwa (1) nilai-nilai yang terdapat dalam tradisi Mappalette Bola ialah sipatokkong yang didalamnya mencakup sipakatau, sipakainge, dan sipakalebbi serta adanya nilai religius, (2) eksistensi nilai-nilai Mappalette Bola masih dipegang erat oleh masyarakat Turikale, khususnya pemuda Turikale, dan (3) implikasi dari nilai-nilai tradisi Mappalette Bola telah dilakukan oleh siswa di salah satu SMA daerah Kabupaten Maros yang melaksanakan kelulusan dengan cara memungut sampah.

Abstract

This study aims to (i) describe the career planning of the 8th grade students of SMPN 9 Bulukumba before and after being given the mind mapping method in group guidance; (ii) describe the mind mapping technique used in guidance group for career planning of the 8th grade students of SMPN 9 Bulukumba; and (iii) investigate the effect of mind mapping used in guidance group on the career planning of the students of SMPN 9 Bulukumba. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design focusing on nonequivalent control group design. The data were collected using career planning scale and analyzed using the statistic independent samples t-test. The results of the study showed (i) career planning among the 8th grade students of SMPN 9 Bulukumba was low before mind mapping was given in group guidance, but after mind mapping was implemented in group guidance, the significance of the change was considered high and (ii) mind mapping in group guidance affects career planning among the 8th grade students of SMPN 9 Bulukumba.
